Need for Speed: Most Wanted is a racing game with an open city to explore. There are several game modes to play and you can choose to race either computer-controlled racers or other people. Most of the tracks have a gritty realness to them and are based in different areas of the open city.

Open City Exploration

One of the hallmarks of Need for Speed: Most Wanted is that you have a city to explore. Called Fairhaven, this city has many different districts like a scenic beach, residential areas, business zones and manufacturing plants. Each area has its own hazards, obstacles and pathways to memorize. Since most of the races will take place in the city you'll find it advantageous to understand how the roads work.

While having a whole city to explore is nice, some people might notice that the city looks deserted. There are business and buildings, but there are no people. There aren't even that many cars in most areas. This makes it easy to navigate around, but it can feel weird to some players.

Game Modes

There are several game modes to play there. The main one most players start with is the story mode. This allows you to travel around Fairhaven as you rise through the ranks and get revenge against some criminals for stealing from you. There are a total of 10 characters you must beat to win the story mode. That might sound quick, but there are many other quests, races and challenges before you can race all of these characters.

There is an online racing mode where you can challenge either your friends or other random people online to a race. You can also participate in races where the main objective is escaping the police. It starts by just going faster than them, but soon they will use traps and hazards to slow you down.

Graphics

The graphics are quite good for this game. All of the cars look realistic and the architecture looks amazing. Some buildings will be pristine while others will be marked by age or graffiti. While there are some racing games with better graphics, this will definitely satisfy your needs if you want a realistic-looking racing game.
